THE Trip, THE GRAND Canyon, Day 3, Driving West on the East Side

Copyright 2011, CABS for Reflections From the Fence

On our 3rd day at the Grand Canyon National Park, we drove the east road in Big Butt.  This is the last portion of that drive, and the 3rd post covering the 3rd day's activities.

While at the Desert View Visitor's Center we grabbed a sandwich from the store, sat in a cubby hole, with only a little wind, and had lunch.   Then we headed back west, stopping at the "pull off" vistas on the way back as we had already stopped at all but one of the "points".  The pull off vistas were now on the right, and we did not have to cross traffic getting in and out of them.  The points, have much larger parking areas, are much easier to do even if you do have to cross traffic.

These last photos were taken on the drive back from the Desert View, and were our last views of the Grand Canyon.

Tired and totally overwhelmed from the day's ride we headed out of the park, back to our campground, and waved back at this fellow who stands guard just before the main entrance to the park.

This last day just as we arrived back at the campground there was a bit of a traffic jam, people out of their cars and trucks, cameras ready and shooting.  Man jumped out and did the honors, the results are over on Flora and Fauna, here.  Day 2 of our visit we got close up and personal with this fella.  He is a raven, larger than my yorkies, not one bit shy of people.  It is said the raven is one very smart bird!  Me thinks he is a camera lover, a poser!  LOL

Our visit to the Grand Canyon was packed full of grand vistas, and memories galore, and now onward to Utah - -

Beautiful!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful photographs and slideshows Carol. I've really enjoyed seeing them. BTW Smokey looks as though he's been working out; he's very buff. :):)

Cheers to you. Looking forward to more shots and stories from 'The Trip',
