Reflections is Having a Contest, Right Here, Right Now!

Copyright 2014, CABS for Reflections From the Fence

Recently I was able to watch a webinar on "What’s New in Legacy Tree 8".  If you have not seen it, you can view it here, it will remain a free webinar.

As chance would have it, I won one of the “door” prizes.  A copy of the Deluxe Legacy 8 and the PDF book.

And, as chance would have it, I already have my copy, paid for.  I have been using it for several weeks.  I was an “early” adapter of Legacy 8.  I rarely do that, but, I did this time, never regretted it, never looked back.

And, so, thanks to Legacy, I have an extra copy and now YOU have a chance to win that copy.  Legacy has agreed to allow me to run a contest and award my copy to a winner here at Reflections.

One copy!  One winner!  My contest!  My rules!

And, they are going to be a bit different.  No drawing this time.

So, if you have NOT paid for Legacy 8, here is your opportunity to WIN a full functioning Deluxe copy.  You know you want Legacy 8, and you know you want to be a winner!

And, here is how:

In 50 words or less, convince me that you just MUST have Legacy 8.  Convince me to pick YOU as the winner.

Yep, that easy.  Yep, that hard.

I will pick the winner based on your responses, and how they play here on Reflections.

Simple.

Please respond here on Reflections.  There is no captcha, but, all comments are moderated.  Also, note, that no Anonymous comments are allowed.

Contest starts now and ends at midnight, Eastern Standard Time, January 20th.  I will announce the winner before January 25th, 2014, unless life and/or illness prevent.  I want to award before Man and I hit the road on the 30th.

Good luck to you all --

Convince me - -

* Disclaimers, etc.  The Legacy web site is here.   More about Legacy webinars can be found here.  I won this copy in a drawing during the live webinar presentation.  I am giving it away, it is my free will decision to do so.  Legacy has NOT asked me to do this, but, they are aware I am doing it and have cooperated with me in the mechanics required to transfer my win to the Reflections future winner.  I am not an employee of Legacy.  I do act as a moderator on the Google Plus community Legacy Virtual Users Group.  Said group has no official standing OR affiliation with Legacy Family Tree and/or Millennia.  The LVUG community is a stand alone users group, with a goal of helping each other get the most out of Legacy.  I think that covers the transparency/disclaimers.  I hope!

** I have never done a contest before, sure hope I covered all the bases.

I would love to be chosen to receive the Legacy 8 because I am a genealogy addict and I need all the help that I can get to organize all of the totes of papers that I have collected on my over 28,000 people that I have in my file. I want the opportunity to do the best that I can with my research. I also want to exchange and share information with my family and friends and help anyone that I can. I really enjoy helping others as much as I love researching my own family. Thank you

My family doesn't understand me, this was the number 1 thing on my wishlist this holiday AND my birthday last week. So apparently no one wants me to be SANE this year as I use problematic, old software to document a treasure trove of information from 2 grand aunts. THANKS!

I want to let you know that two of your blog posts are listed in today's Fab Finds post at http://janasgenealogyandfamilyhistory.blogspot.com/2014/01/follow-friday-fab-finds-for-january-10.html

Because I really, really want to try it but I don't want to pay for it in case I don't like it.

Due to the fact that our budget is stretched to the limit my only chance of getting the deluxe version this year is to win a copy.

Either from you or one of the Webinars.

We will be doing well if we can pay our bills.

Thanks.

I may be the only remaining user of a 15 yr-old genealogy software package (Family Tree Maker v 7.0 from 1999). I've resisted upgrading because it still works (after a fashion, it does crash from time to time) but this may be the jolt to get me to shift!

I don’t see in the contest rules where it’s limited to one entry per person, just 50 words per entry. My online charisma won’t win it. To convince you I am deserving of the Legacy 8, my best shot is to have multiple 50-word entries entered for you to consider.

More, more, more, with less, less, less!
Owning a copy of Legacy 8 will allow me to find more, do more and be more accurate.
All in less time with less error and less frustration!
As a perfectionist, I’m enthusiastically wild at the thought of owning a program like this.

Because I can do 20 things at once.
Because I used to stay up until 3am researching; then sleep, and be at work at 8am.
Because I’m retired now and can stay up ALL night researching.
Because I’m a perfectionist who is giddy at the thought of owning Legacy 8.

How do I convince someone in 50 words that I live and breathe research and that my last breath will probably be in front of a keyboard? Owning Legacy 8 would definitely not go to waste in my hands and it’ll make me crazier about research than I already am.

Here’s entry number five and my final entry that is also composed of 50 words exactly. Yes, that multiple entry-entry musing of mine WAS an entry. Who else is zany enough to think that having multiple entries might show you why you NEED to award the Legacy 8 to them?

I lied.
Here’s entry number six.
I can’t concentrate.
I can’t eat.
I can’t sleep.
I can’t get dressed in the mornings.
Can’t clean. Okay, that’s laziness on my part.
All I can think about is winning Legacy 8.
Put me over the moon and award me!
50 words again.

And entry number 7, including this line.
50 words by whose count?
Yours?
MS Word count feature?
My count?
I want Legacy 8 b-a-d-l-y.
Can you tell?
I NEED Legacy 8 b-a-d-l-y.
I’ll use the heck out of it.
It’ll keep me out of trouble.
Ha! *Giggle. No it won’t.

My final entry, is entry 8.
Because 8 is my lucky number.
Just like Legacy 8 is eight.
I w-a-n-t Legacy 8.
I n-e-e-d Legacy 8.
I am the b-e-s-t person for Legacy 8.
Begging isn’t pretty and I need to stop.
But I can’t help myself.
Last-and-final, I promise.

GGrandma where are you?

I seem to have lost you!

Could it be I’m befuddled?

Or is my brain muddled?

In circles I turn without direction.

Shuffling papers has caused total dejection.

GGrandma is calling – I hear her scream!

Legacy 8 please come fulfill my dream!

I snort and giggle in my head,
I’m sneaking another entry in…
Maybe I’ll do two or three instead?
Thirst for knowledge is in my veins
Runs strong and deep, like sugar canes
So whether they’re my last, I can’t commit,
Let’s wait and see at midnight, on the twentieth.

Folks, I find my self in a bit of a quandary, I have received an entry to this contest that I am reluctant to post. WHY? Because it breaks one of my cardinal rules of posting to my blog. "No advertising will be published."

After much contemplation and reflecting from my fence, I am going to allow this comment/entry.

I am NOT endorsing the product. You are ON your own for deciding if you want to use or even consider using this product. I know NOTHING of the product. Please read ALL my disclaimer notes here and on the page I have set up for that information (see tabs above).

So, the next entry, from reader Larry, breaks my no advertising rule, but, in trying to be fair and publish all entries, here goes.

Still not sure, but, here we go.

Being a contest boss is a tough job, by the way!

Well, it published Larry's entry ABOVE my disclaimer comment. Time stamped I suppose.

Fouled again by technology.

Figures! LOL

I broke out a shovel to dig up the past,
WHO they were, WHERE they were… at last!
All my elusive ancestors who beckon me and tease,
“Come find me, come find me, Olly olly oxen free!”
Oh Legacy 8 I need you please, hide and seek is your expertise!
